Magformers Wow Set Review and Giveaway

I was really excited with the opportunity to review another Magformers set (see here to see what I said last time) This is one of their newest sets  -the wow 27 piece set, featuring new solid neon colours.

This set includes:

The activity sheets are fantastic, so laminated them as soon as I took them out of the box. This way they can withstand the vigorous play that sometimes goes on!

My kids love Magformers as they are simply lots of fun!  I like them since they lead to lots of creative play and have lots of functional benefits.

The magnetic resistance when pulling apart the pieces while playing provides repeated strengthening of the hand muscles.  This helps to improve fine motor skills and endurance.  Since these have such great strong magnets children can build 3-dimensional objects, it not only works on their hands but their whole upper body strength as well.

For the kids the activity sheets only increase the fun factor, while for me they advance some fundamental skills.  Working with the shapes while following the template in the instructions works on many visual perceptual skills.

My kids especially enjoyed the set of wheels in this set and instructions on how to make a variety of different cars and vehicles.

See Kai Run - Review and Giveaway

Boo was very excited to choose a new pair of the sneakers from See Kai Run. She selected the Florence and was not disappointed. What girl wouldn't love a pair of pink sparkly shoes!  The velcro allows her to take them on and off quickly and she says they are extremely comfortable.  I love that the material is breathable and the quality is great.

They sent the Diana for Cupcake and they couldn't have come at a better time as she started really walking the day before they arrived.  I felt very confident putting them on her as her first pair of shoes as all of See Kai Runs shoes meet the American Podiatric Medical Association's rigorous standards for foot health and functionality and has been awarded the APMA's prestigious Seal of Acceptance.

While I keep her barefoot when indoors - the Smaller line from See Kai Run all have soft flexible soles that allow for proper development of babies feet. As well as the flexibility the durable rubber sole provides the protection kids need. 

Cupcake adores her shoes, she runs to get them when the big girls are going out and often even wants to sleep with them.

Kai Shoes Review

I discovered See Kai Run when I started buying shoes for Boo.  I have purchased many pairs of shoes from them and have been impressed time and again with their quality and customer service.  They create fun, fashionable shoes for babies until 8 year old so they are a brand that has grown with my family.

See Kai Run stood out as all of their footwear meets the American Podiatric Medical Association's rigorous standards for foot health and functionality.

I was very excited when I discovered that See Kai Run had the Ellie available in three colours. I like dressing my triplets to co-ordinate rather than in matching clothing but that is often quite a challenge. Companies tend to make two varieties in the same print but it is often difficult to find a third.

  

The soles have great traction which is very helpful for busy kids, climbing and running on play structures and slippery floors.

The site includes an easy to follow size chart and I found the shoes to be true to size. The shoes are great quality leather in bright exciting colours and are easy for little hands to put on and take off without adult help (this saves time and tears).

Last year they released a new line of Runners that are washable, water-friendly and breathable.  Until July 1st the runners are 45% off and there is free shipping for any orders placed on the site.

BabyLit Books Review and Giveaway

I am a big believer in raising readers by starting them with books from when they are young.  My girls love getting lost in bookstores or libraries.  I recently came across a new company that is making cute board books for babies and toddlers. BabyLit creates cute educational board books using concepts from literary classics

I was sent Don Quixote, Alice in Wonderland and Frankenstein.

Alice in Wonderland explores colours using objects found in the original story.  Frankenstein is used to discover body parts and Don Quixote teaches basic spanish phrases.

The pictures in the books are bright and engaging. Each one has a different educational component, but mostly they are just plain fun!

Cupcake really enjoyed reading all 3 simultaneously.  She moved from one to the other exploring the vibrant pictures.

I must add that her big sisters enjoyed them too.

Super Magformers Review and Discount Code

We discovers Magformers a couple of years ago and they are definitely the toy that allows me the most hours of peace and quiet!  It is one of the few toys that ALL 5 of my girls (ages 1-7) can enjoy.

If you haven't come across this great toy yet, don't let the price tag on these scare you! The hours of creative play they provide really makes them a truly super toy.

 Magformers are magnetic construction sets that promote brain development through exploration and fun.  Magformers come in many different shapes and colours to promote creativity.  They are made with very powerful neodymium (rare earth) magnets so the structures hold together well and can even be transported to some extent.  The magnets are free floating within the plastic so the pieces do not have to be used in a specific direction to get the magnets to attract.

Magformers will help a child read and write without there even being letters around!

The construct components work on visual perceptual skills that are needed for effective and efficient reading and writing.  Magformers work on form constancy - the ability to recognize objects as they change size, shape or direction - this is important for recognizing letters and words in different contexts, and helping children differentiate a b/p/d/q.

My girls really enjoyed playing with them.  They discovered that the larger pieces provide more stability when building larger structures.

They came up with a really fun activity - where Boo built a structure using regular Magformers and the triplets then worked together to duplicate it out of the Super Magformers.

Glitter Petz Review and Giveaway

We love Orb Factory in our house.  They are an amazing company that makes a wide variety of  creative, fun and educational activity kits for kids.  For March break they sent us a few of their newest product Glitter Petzs.

We got Penny, Sadie, Dixie and Sammi and luckily each of my girls wanted a different one so there were no tears!

Each kit comes with a little plastic animal, two sheets of jewel stickers, two pairs of sticker eyes and a clasp so it can be hung from a backpack.

It was a fun activity - the girls enjoyed personalizing and creating their own unique animals.  The kit was really easy to use and came with plenty of stickers.  I liked that they didn't really need much adult guidance - except for attaching the clasp which was too complicated for them to do alone.

These would make a great addition to any Easter basket or loot bag.  They are a cute activity and only cost $5.99. My only concern is keeping them away from my one year old who loves peeling the stickers off an eating them.

As an added bonus they loved using the extra gems as stick on earrings!

Mally Designs Review

Mally Designs is a wonderful Canadian company that I discovered a number of years ago.  They have a full line of handmade leather products that are really well made and practical.

The first item I was introduced to were their bibs.  They make adorable leather bibs with a huge choice of cute designs.  (I actually designed the bow tie one for them in a contest they held a couple years ago)  The bibs have a magnetic closure so we keep them hanging on the fridge so we always know where they are! The bibs come in 2 sizes and they have a custom design studio that lets you make a completely personalized bib- you can choose the colours, appliques and even add a name!

All the bibs have a pocket that can be flipped to the second side to form a pocket that will catch things your child may drop.  They are easy to wash and then just hang to dry - so although it seems spendy - one bib is all you need
.

Their line of products also includes leather bookmarks, key chains and coin purses.  Boo has a coin purse on her schoolbag for when she need to take money to school.  It stays shut so nothing falls out of it and it has lasted really well

They currently are having a misfit sale in their etsy shop. Where the have some slightly imperfect and unique bibs for a great discount as well as a number of discontinued change purses 50% off.  If you are needing some great gifts I would definitely take a look - but hurry these don't hang around for long!
